BNSSG Ophthalmology Service Design Group Avon LOC is an active member of the Bristol, North Somerset & South Gloucestershire Eye Service Design Group. This group is looking at the redesign of ophthalmology services across the 3 PCT areas, with the aims of:
Within the Design Group, 5 areas of priority for activity have been agreed, and these Workstreams are as follows:
It has been agreed that not all 5 workstreams would commence work at once, but that Cataracts and Glaucoma would start work first, with Low Vision the next to start. Currently (June 2009), the Cataract, Glaucoma and Low Vision workstreams are up and running, have met several times, and representatives from Avon LOC have attended these meetings. Important progress is being made. Avon LOC hopes that in the near future, there will be significant changes in service provision, and that local optometrists will have significant opportunities to be part of such changes. |
